(With their new swimwear, Mesus and Bad One were eager to start exploring again. *dive* The foundation of their island wasn't as deep as they had presumed. Idealist Isle. Exploitation, Incorporated!? They can't be good!? Mesus surfaced. Bad One stayed to experiment. Here, Bad One! *flick* *splash* *catch* Bad One checked out the knobs. DANGER! Authorized Access Only! He flipped the left known towards "more" and didn't stop until he heard Mesus yelp! Aiee! Bad One turned it all the way the other way and the island blossomed with life! He tried the left knob next, "more" first. Tree fruit burst into diamonds, flowers grew into rubies. Mesus made snow monkeys in the gold-coated grasses. Then the other way, leaving Mesus sputtering and grasping for the beach. Bad One set both dials back to normal and rejoined Mesus at the surface, monumentally befuzzled.)

(*creak* *creak* *creak* Mesus stood up from his rocking chair. "Do they really want to know?" he asked. "Sure they do, wouldn't you?" *yoink* "We're just badly drawn monkeys ranting in metaphors." "Badly drawn or not, we're real. As real as any meme. And if we can't find Freedom… beyond the bubble of Propaganda's delusions, in spite of Greed's omnipresence… whoa!? uh-oh! They're F'd!)

Mesus outthinks their island's limitations. (prev | next)

Next: Mesus 15: Intermission

(Life was good but their island was small. Mesus had an idea! Bad One got his magnifying glass, Mesus rolled up a new leaf, and they got to work. They made three glass balls, and two big ones with holes in them like Jack-o-lanterns! Bad One was confused… until Mesus strapped the balls to his feet with leaf-rope and jumped in the water! Great idea, Mesus! Bad One put his helmet on, grabbed a few leaves, and dove in after him. Hooray!)

(Look, a kitty! I wonder how she got there? I'll tell you! MEOW. Meeowww! One day, Mesus and Bad One spotted a poor kitten meowing in their yard. Mesus gave her a saucer of milk and she slept under a step in a shoebox. The next morning she had grown so big she didn't fit in her shoebox anymore! Meow? That night, Bad One gave her a bowl of milk and a laundry basket bed. The kitten grew as big as Bad One, and drank a full bottle of milk. Then she was as big as Mesus, and drank two bottles of milk! PURR. Soon it was Mesus and Bad One sleeping under the deck, and no more milk! Meow? Mesus and Bad One pondered their new friend's predicament. The answer came to them as soon as night fell… The Milky Way! Bad One fed the kitten evaported milk. They climbed on her, and up they bound! They passed the moon, they passed the planets, and they didn't stop until they found the Milky Way! Mesus and Bad One caught the first shooting star back home. But Sophia the Wonder Cat stayed in the sky forever, drinking milk whenever she was thirsty.)
